Agency Learning and Evidence Month kicks off May 2 with a panel of Global Evidence Commitment signatories, including USAID leadership and speakers from the Interagency and fellow donors discussing how we are improving evidence culture and use in our organizations.  The Month closes May 30 with a review of highlights from across this year’s sessions and reflections from leading think tanks on their recommendations for where USAID focuses efforts in the coming year based on the current state of the evidence.

Overview

Agency Learning and Evidence Month is a celebration of research, evaluation, and learning that brings together diverse development actors to exchange with one another and hear the latest evidence on global priorities. Over the course of 20 USAID-hosted sessions and 10 externally-hosted guest sessions held throughout the month of May, Agency Learning and Evidence Month provides a forum for USAID and our partners, global thought leaders, and leading researchers to discuss how high quality evidence can drive development and humanitarian impact. All sessions will be open to the USAID workforce, with select sessions open to the public by registration.

Through the theme of ‘What Works and Where to Find It’, sessions will highlight evidence-driven approaches and resources to further global priorities, including climate change, migration, locally led development, resilience, affirmative development, anti-corruption, and inclusive development. Sessions will also explore how development and humanitarian assistance organizations can strengthen operational effectiveness and sustainability of impact.

Agency Learning and Evidence Month is part of the broader USAID Agency Learning Agenda cadence of activities to strengthen evidence building, sharing, and use in decision making. This year’s Agency Learning and Evidence Month builds on the success of the first-ever agency-wide Agency Learning and Evidence Month in 2023, where featured sessions reached 2,459 attendees from over 115 countries and more than 150 organizations.
